Hello! I’m Rianna Murray and I’m a PhD student in Toxicology
and Environmental Health the School of Public Health. I’m the staff advisor for
our experience in Chicago, and I’m looking forward to working with a really
great group of talented UMD students! My research interests are global health,
environmental justice and health disparities, particularly when these
disparities revolve around environmental health issues. I am excited about our
experience because I am passionate about social justice, and I would like to
learn about the parallels in homelessness between Chicago and our Washington
DC-Baltimore region. An immersive experience
such as this one will give me an opportunity to translate the principles I have
learned in my public health classes into real-life situations, and to be better
equipped to make a difference in my own local communities.
